What are PSG accused of?

On the table is the complaint of a group of Barcelona members, including the largest Barcelona fan group in France, over what happened with Messi‘s move to the Ligue 1 club.

The Argentine player could not stay at Barcelona because the club could not comply with Spanish football’s Financial Fair Play, but left for PSG to a league where the football structures are totally different.

“There is a distortion of competition,” the group have told MARCA.

Because of all this, there are calls for Paris Saint-Germain to be sanctioned, for the case to be investigated further and for changes to be made to the rules of football so that the same thing does not happen again.

What changes in the rules of football are being called for?

There is a call for all European leagues to be governed by the same Financial Fair Play rules.

The appeal being held this Tuesday proposes that the European Commission should be in charge of doing that job.

However, in the event that the complaint of the members and the fan group does not succeed, there is a plan B, one involving LaLiga.

Javier Tebas is in favor of all European leagues having the same rules and will propose the model of the Spanish league to try to get everyone to act according to those rules.

In this complaint against PSG, Barcelona president Joan Laporta was on the verge of supporting the appeal, but in the end the club’s decision was, instead of trying to change the rules of the game, to turn to the model of levers to try to alleviate its economic problems.
