The Indianapolis Colts decided to replace quarterback Matt Ryan with Sam Ehlinger on Monday, leaving the 37-year-old veteran dissatisfied with the way things have played out through seven games.

"Obviously disappointed personally, but I’m here for the team. Life in this league is week to week, and the production has to be there" Ryan said, according to Kevin Bowne of 1075 The Fan .

The QB led the Colts to a 3-3-1 start, throwing for 2,008 yards, nine touchdowns and nine interceptions. He has earned respect in the Colts locker room since arriving in Indianapolis, including from center Ryan Kelly .

"Love the guy. I’ve said it now: I get close to all these guys. I think everybody has their own opinions on that. I’m not going to get into mine, but yeah, certainly, I think there’s a little bit of surprise," Kelly said, according to Zak Keefer of The Athletic .
