Max is an old, partially blind, blue-eyed adult puppy.

It’s not normal to see a blue puppy wandering the streets, so when the Scituate Animal Shelter heard about him they immediately went to his rescue . When carrying out the pertinent studies to establish his state of health, they found a serious infection in his ear, and total loss of his vision. They also determined that the puppy was approximately 10 years old. But there was still something to be resolved.

Why did the puppy have its blue fur?

Scituate Animal Shelter board chairwoman Lisey Good noted that cute Max had almost his entire body painted blue except for his little face . Everyone at the shelter was baffled, unable to understand how he came to have his fur like that. Fortunately the vet helped to discover the great mystery of his color:

“We believe he had recently been treated for a severe flea infection, using a flea ‘bath’ that can dye some white coats blue.”

Despite not being sure of that diagnosis, it made sense to everyone at the shelter that they could see that Max had recently had fleas, but couldn’t find any when they found him wandering the streets.

Apparently someone tried to help the adorable puppy with his flea problem, but he had ended up on the streets totally helpless anyway. To try to get rid of that color that made him so unique, they had to bathe him several times and cut his hair . After one session, which seemed to have relaxed him, he seemed much healthier and happier.

Max was delighted after his bath.

Even though Max is blind, he can definitely feel when someone is in the room, he has shown to enjoy the company of all his rescuers and is calmer when someone is holding him . It’s amazing that he was able to survive for so long on his condition alone.

Max, a blue puppy that regardless of his condition became everyone’s favorite.

Despite his advanced age and condition, Max has shown to have an incredible personality. He is very receptive to all the people and puppies that approach him. Fortunately, he was placed in a foster home and now enjoys the comforts of home, but above all the love of a family .
