The Brooklyn Nets were victims of the most tumultuous offseason in the NBA, Kevin Durant’s intention to be traded and the subsequent agreement to withdraw that demand generated a lot of headlines, however, all this trajin did not manage to despair coach Steve Nash, as the referees did on Wednesday during his team’s 110-99 loss against the powerful Milwaukee Bucks.

In the third quarter, with the game relatively even and with 4:24 minutes to play, the Bucks appeared to have committed a well-received offensive foul on Royce O’Neale, however, the referees let the action continue which unleashed the fury of arguably the greatest former Canadian basketball player of all time.

First ejection as coach for Steve Nash

Nash immediately, unlike his usual equanimity exploded with fury and was punished with a technical foul, however, that punishment did not placate the former point guard who had to be stopped by his own players and as‌sistant coaches as he was handing incessantly, while receiving the second technical foul and was ejected for the first time since he debuted as Nets strategist in 2020.

However, Nash’s ejection is surely not what worries Brooklyn the most, on the contrary, it is the slow start by losing three of the first four games of the season that should have everyone in this organization that has been built to contend for the NBA championship.

The Giannis Antetokounmpo show

It wasn’t a bad game from Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving against the Bucks by scoring 33 and 27 points respectively but any effort has fallen short of a spectacular night from Milwaukee’s stellar Greek forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, who not only racked up 43 points, he also had a double-double with 14 rebounds.

The Bucks (3-0) will return to the court on Friday when they host the New York Knicks, while the Nets (1-3) have their next game on Thursday when they host the Dallas Mavericks.
